I am using this stem for cruising around and learning some light street tricks, and I absolutely love it. Obviously bike position and posture is a personal thing, but being more upright feels so natural. The Three stem not only gives more rise, but combines with a shorter reach that lets me basically stand up straight when I want to.
I am obsessed with skiing, and believe it or not BMX is the closest feeling I’ve found to being on skis. Getting as close as possible to an upright skiing stance is what led me to get the BSD High as Hell 10.5” bars and to start experimenting with stem sizes. Once I found the sweet spot where I could stand up straight and get my head up without straining it felt like the bike disappeared beneath me, exactly the sensation that makes skiing so addictive.
I know the BMX scene is shifting to a higher front end with 10” bars and higher, but it takes a lot less weight to get that height with different stem geometry, and I predict higher stems with a shorter reach becoming more popular with riders. I definitely recommend trying it yourself, and this stem is a good way to do it. I don’t know of any other stems on the market that combine such a short reach with a relatively high rise.
Also, the build quality is completely perfect and with the Ti bolts it is extremely lightweight. If you’re considering it, definitely pull the trigger.
Flatsociety came through in rapid order with my purchase, which I am greatly pleased with having ridden the component for 2 weeks. Flatsociety provides a valuable service to what is a 100 percent niche market, and I intend to support them in the future...we flatlanders have to stick together!!!
